Bangsamoro Autonomous Region: Rising Above the SAF44 Tragedy to Sustain the Philippines’ Rice Supply

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), once scarred by the tragic events of the SAF44 incident in 2015, has proven its resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

Today, the region stands tall as one of the Philippines' most vital rice granaries, contributing significantly to the country's agricultural production. Despite years of conflict and the deep scars left by past struggles, the hardworking farmers of BARMM continue to cultivate vast rice fields, pushing forward with unwavering spirit to provide sustenance for millions.

"Dun nabuo yung spirit namin na kailangan tayong magisa sa mga rice farmers na tulungan natin sila na mapaunlad talaga ang buhay nila. Kung walang future ang rice farming, wala na ding future ang bansa natin, totoo yan" as stated by Mr. Julio Sy, Chairman of Tao Foods Company, Inc.

This agricultural strength serves as a testament to the region's enduring hope for peace, prosperity, and progress, as it strives to overcome its history and create a brighter future for its people.

"Pasasalamat sa Tao Corporation dahil dumating po ang variety na makakatulong ng malaki sa amin dahil ito po ay makakadagdag po ng kita namin na tig- seven thousand pesos per hectare" expressed by Datu Anwarudin Ampatuan, President of Maguindanao Associations of Farmers and Irrigators Association (MAFAIA)
